However, this statement is as disingenuous as the statement walked back last year that she and Bill were ‘dead broke’ when they left the White House in 2001, after which they bought multimillion dollar homes in New York and DC.
When she left the State Department last year the Clinton’s combined net worth was between $5.2 and $25.5 million with additional millions coming in from a book and $300,000 speeches she gave around the country.
She announced on Sunday that she resigned from the Board of the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation — but conveniently her name will still be on the Marquee of the $2 Billion philanthropy.
Hillary hasn’t driven a car in 18 years, she’s been chauffeured around the globe staying in posh hotels and presidential suites since she’s been running — now for the second time — for president.
She has an only, but privileged child, Chelsea Clinton Mezvinsky, who went to all the best of schools money could buy. Now 35 Chelsea appeared in a well-planned and placed feature last week on the cover of Elle Magazine in a $1,500 Gucci dress and a $7,000 Cartier bracelet. She lives with her husband and new born baby in a $9.2 million Manhattan condo.
And this is the family that wants to sell the concept to the ‘Everyday American’ that Hillary is going to be the ‘Champion’ for the Middle Class.
Sounds like more of a champion for the Clinton’s.
This phony campaign of hypocrisy to rescue the Middle Class is only surpassed by the soft presidential launch and controlled venues and events we can expect to see while the Clinton Campaign tries to avoid transparency surrounding the milieu of scandals Hillary brings along with her in her Louis Vuitton baggage.
Clinton entered her official run for the presidency with a soft launch to avoid uncomfortable media questions, which will apparently be the strategy to avoid addressing the scandals.
This will be done by staged events, with every attempt to select who she will grant interviews, control the messages from campaign headquarters and the media. This will not be easy, but they will rely heavily on the liberal main-stream media as did President Obama.
The campaign website includes a lengthy biography, but no discussion of issues no policy platforms and no ideology.
The statement issued said, Clinton is “committed to spending the next 6 to 8 weeks in a ‘ramp up’ period where her team will start to build a nation-wide grassroots organization, and she will spend her time engaging directly with voters.”
“In May, once her supporters in 50 states are organized for house parties or to watch over live-streams, ” the statement said, “Hillary will hold her first rally and deliver the speech to kick off her campaign.”
Her trajectory for a war chest is a staggering $2.5 billion; I’m sure the Middle Class can relate to their ‘Champion’s’ needs.
Despite the environment the Clinton strategists will attempt to control, Hillary will need a playbook and talking points from which she will need to draw upon for the myriad of scandals. The New York Post summarized the scandals last week. Here is an edited version of what they reported:
Shady Foundation — The Foundation had stopped accepting money from foreign governments in 2009, when Hillary became secretary of state. However while she was secretary of state a Colombian oil company was promising millions to the Clinton Foundation and today the founder of the oil company serves on the Board. The Moroccan government just pledged at least $1 million to the foundation. When she resigned in 2013, the foundation changed this policy, and it has since taken money from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
Resume — While a senator no legislation bears her name; she voted for the war in Iraq. Her accomplishments as secretary of state consist of traveling to 112 countries, but accomplished nothing of consequence — no peace treaty, no accord, no summit of consequence. When asked in 2014 by Diane Sawyer to name her greatest achievement or “signature doctrine,” Hillary could not. Four Americans , including the Ambassador to Libya, were killed on her watch in Benghazi by al Qaeda and she called the attack a ‘demonstration’ over a film.
Suspicious Finances — Without ever breaking any laws the Clinton’s appeared to accumulate money from ill-gotten gains. During Bill’s first run for president in 1992, the Whitewater scandal surfaced alleging his involvement as governor in real estate investments.
Greed — Hillary is now trying to position herself as the champion of the middle class, while in 2014, charging a minimum of $300,000 a speech with a host of other demands: a private jet, Gulfstream G450 or better, put up in presidential suits, presence for only 90 minutes, and 50 photos with 100 attendees – no more. She defended her enormous speaking fees by saying she and Bill were, not only dead broke, but in debt” when they left the White House after which both bought their Chappaqua NY home for $1.7 million, and in 2000 purchased a seven-bedroom home in Washington, DC for $2.85 million and the same year listed their assets at $1.8 million. Hillary backed off the ‘dead broke’ statement. “I regret it. It was in-artful,” she said. “But was accurate.”
Other Women — She said she wasn’t a “stand by your man” kind of woman but that’s exactly what she did when her husband President Bill was involved with the Lewinsky scandal. But now she is amplifying her gender, she is not just running as the first potential first female president, but as a proud feminist. But back when her husband was a philander she called Monica Lewinsky, then a 22-year-old White House intern a “narcissistic loony-toon” and insisted that Bill had not abused his power. As for Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey, who alleged sexual harassment, and Juanita Broaddrick, who accused him of rape — the Clinton’s embarked on a “nuts and sluts” campaign denigrating the accusers. According to Carl Bernstein’s “A Woman in Charge,” Hillary called Bill’s longtime mistress Gennifer Flowers “trailer trash;” she also encouraged his team to get signed statements from all of Bill’s other women, swearing they’d never had sex with him. Willey later said that Hillary spearheaded a “terror campaign” against her. “She is the war on women, as far as I’m concerned,” Willey said.
Personal Email Account — In March it was disclosed that during Hillary’s four-year stint as secretary of state she conducted all business — political, public and private — solely through her personal email account, on a server in her house. When asked why she didn’t use two emails — one for official business and one for personal use, Hillary said: “I thought it would be easier to just carry one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two.” Then an email surfaced that was sent from her iPad, undermining that excuse. In a badly handled press conference, Clinton answered questions with all-too-familiar arrogance, contempt and incredulity that her word should be questioned.
And so the champion of the everyday American sounds like anything but. Yet wealthy Hillary Clinton tells Middle Class Voters, ‘The deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top’ of the economy.
It’s the kettle on the top telling the everyday American on the bottom that more is on the way.
It just sounds like more of the mendacity we hear today from President Obama that we will hear again tomorrow from Hillary Clinton.
