Manasota Key Fl (Storch Report) — Construction will begin on the Tom Adams Bridge, the South entry to Manasota Key, on March 29.
According to Charles Koons, project engineer for Charlotte County, a new bridge tender house will be built adjacent to the bridge from a barge near the Intercostal Water Way. The new tender house will be a self-standing structure and will not be attached to the bridge. The project will take 18 months to complete.
In addition to the bridge tender house construction, concrete slabs will be installed on both sides of the bridge, which will result in single-lane delays to ingress and egress to the island.
Koons said there are no plans at this time to close the bridge, but delays can be expected.
The County plans on making a presentation to the public at a meeting of the Manasota Sandpiper Key Association in May.
