New York (Storch Report) – Republican elitism rears its ugly head among the Bush clan from George H. W. to George W.
The Bush clan often called former President Bill Clinton a ‘favorite son’ despite the fact he made George H. W. Bush a one-term president.
They allegedly became close friends despite their political differences, giving the old adage that ‘politicians make for strange bedfellows’ more credence.
According to the New York Times review of Mark K. Undegrove’s book “The Last Republicans.” George H. W. Bush voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and called President Trump a “blowhard.”
According to the review, Bush, 93, says in the book, “I don’t like him. I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard. And I’m not too excited about him being a leader.”
The new book consists mostly of interviews looking back at the Republican Party over the past few decades and explores the connection between the elder Bush and his son, former President George W. Bush.
The younger Bush told Undegrove that he voted for “none of the above.”
According to Fox News, “The father and son each raise concerns that Trump has essentially blown up the GOP to the extent that the New York businessman and first-time politician could be the party’s last president for a long while,” as reported in The Times.
It was also suggested that Trump has wrecked their longtime efforts to continue to build a political party committed to free trade and immigration and the continuation of United States as a world leader in democracy.
George W. said in a recent speech that “bigotry seems emboldened” in the United States and warned that Americans need to reject “white supremacy.” However, he didn’t mention Trump by name.
This all comes after two actresses accused former president George H. W. Bush of alleged sexual harassment during a group photo op.
