Hillary’s Gapgate

Former U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton attends the U.S. Agency for International Development at "Cookstoves Future" summit in New YorkWashington DC (Storch Report) — George Will said last week on Fox News that, “The Clinton’s could find a loop-hole in a stop sign.”

How true it has proven to be.  They, collectively, Hillary and Bill, have a long trail of scandals to live up to and they don’t seem to be mellowing with age like a good red wine, they just keep coming, the scandals, that is . . . not the red wine.

There was Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, Chinagate, Lewinskygate, and Bengazigate among many others in their years in government and outside the laws of justice, not to imply that there is justice within government.

And apparently few knew that among the Bonnie and Clyde duo it was Hillary that was the “consigliore,” in the old days while slick Willy slip-slided around dodging and wooing the media and the people.

And if you doubt Will’s comment about the stop sign, let us not forget the debate about what “is” means.  They didn’t label him Teflon “Bubba” for no reason.

But now it is Hillary that has the limelight rather than Bill.

In case you hadn’t noticed she wants to be president and Bill would like to be back in the White House — or the Oval office, and up until a few weeks ago the Dems thought they had a frontrunner, but they now seem to be concerned they may have a pig-in-a-poke.

All on her own, without Bill’s help — well I’m not sure about that, he may be the “consigliore” now — they have developed Hillary’s own “Gapgate,”  a scandal over emails and a private server while Hillary was Secretary of State.

You see, she should have been using .gov, rather than .com.  But she wanted her own email under .com not .gov which was required for all government employees.  But she always thought she was special, or was she looking for a place to cover-up her next scandal?

Oh, and to talk about fair weather friends in politics — well, no one ever thought they were close but the distance is now growing — President Obama said today the first he heard about the Hillary emails was when he read about it in the media.  That’s about as credible as his presidency.  I guess he never noticed her email was .com not .gov while they were communicating with each other? Or, perhaps they weren’t communicating?  Just another gap.

We all know about that dot stuff, perhaps there will be room for a new Apple app called iGap.

Well, you see in case you have been hiding under a rock, there are “huge gaps” in the emails of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton according to the Chairman of the Congressional Committee investigating the 2012 attack on a US consulate in Benghazi, Libya.  She was first to label the cause of this Al Qaeda attack on a film produced in the US.

And that was Benghazigate, another aforementioned Clinton scandal that is still to play-out.  Four Americans were killed in Benghazigate, among them Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens.

But the complexity of this .com .gov email issue with Hillary and the State Department seems to be intertwined with the Bill, Hillary & Chelsey Clinton Foundation which has been receiving tens of millions of contributions from the likes of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Algeria and Brunei all while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.

Ron Fournier writing in the National Journal suggested it could be called the “Clinton Conflicts of Interest Foundation.”

Hillary herself has yet to speak-out on this latest scandal, but promises to do so sometime this week.  Meanwhile, the scandal that the Clinton’s hoped would fade away is gaining legs even in the main stream media that will take the story into the 2016 campaign, that is, if Hillary is in the game she has yet to enter.

Meanwhile Lanny Davis, that lawyer from the Clinton days in the White House, tried to defend her on Sunday during a Chris Wallace interview on Fox, but fumbled and bumbled his way to a lack of media training defense of repeated ‘interruptions.’

All of a sudden the Democrats find themselves without a frontrunner of a candidate in 2016 and, more important, no viable backup.

Fans in politics are much like the fickle fans of sports.  They are with you when you are a winner, but when you become a loser they find a new baseball cap to wear.
