I believe it is most appropriate on this Memorial Day Weekend to reflect upon Thomas Paine’s Common sense pamphlet written in 1776 which was called at the time ‘superbly rhetorical and iconoclastic’ and proved to be the concept of balance in our Constitution.

President Obama sent a messenger today to deliver the bad news that he would not be keeping his promises of holding Federal trials for 9/11 detainees and closing Gitmo.  That’s right 9/11 detainees will go to Military trials, and nor will Obama be closing Gitmo in the near future -  if ever.
