Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony before the Senate and the House today on the Benghazi Al Qaeda terrorist attack that killed four Americans, including the US Ambassador to Libya, was nothing but pure political hypocrisy and a level of mendacity displayed not even seen in the Hollywood production of, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
She flailed her arms while responding to a question about the difference between the cause of the attack, a spontaneous protest ovr a film critical of Islamists or a terrorist attack, and she said, “What difference does it make at this point in time?”
The difference Madam Secretary is the TRUTH.
This is what the people deserve from its public servants. You failed to deliver the truth. And as Sen Ron Paul said of her behavior, ” If I was president I would relieve you of your post.” There was no response from Hillary.
The administration was covering up a crisis that was taking place during a reelection campaign, and doing so for obvious reasons. And, unfortunately for the nation, it worked.
I had the privilege several years ago to participate in this alleged democratic process of assisting those testifying before congress on issues and it is a rather complex political process that does little to ferret out the facts of just about any issue.
It is much like most of what takes place in Washington, despite President Obama’s promise to change all of this, which failed dramatically.
It’s the same as it has always been. A staged event with political motives. It is only the naive that believe they can make this kind of change and that was Obama entering his first term in office. You just don’t hear him talking about this anymore. Welcome to the club Mr. President.
If you noticed in Hillary’s performance, and it was more of that then testimony, questions coming from the Dems and the GOP were limited to five minutes. The Dems didn’t ask any serious questions about Benghazi, but delivered laudatory comments to Hillary taking up precious time to find out the facts, while the GOP was asking the questions to pursue the truth, but unfortunately not doing a very good job.
Whether it be the Democrats or the Republicans, both play by the same set of rules. There is time to stage the event; puff ball questions are part of the plan on both sides, and they are served up in advance. If you are on the defence you eat up time and you do so to protect your party under attack.
It just is not designed to uncover facts as it might be in the court of law, where one can pursue the truth through a series of follow-up questions.
It is politics, a game that is staged much like a Hollywood plot and as a result the people in the democracy are pawns in the game.
It is not that different than Beyonce’s performance of the National Anthem, which she lip synched. It was not the real thing anymore than Hillary’s testimony.
