“Mendacity”
Hypocrisy is alive and well in the Obama White House.
What was described as a “dumb war” (Iraq) in 2008 by Barack Obama the candidate, is now portrayed as a “success” in 2011 by Obama the president.
It’s amazing what can happen in three short years, especially when you want to keep your job in 2012.
Isn’t it ironic that President Obama will be campaigning to keep his job in the White house, after a poor performance review by the people he serves, and who may very well be joining the ranks of the 16 million unemployed?
Today Obama used the patrotic picture of heroic warriors at Ft. Bragg returning from Iraq to add to the image of his reelection campaign and spinning the return of these troops into a hypocritical positive, calling what he was opposed to in 2008 a “success” in 2011.
He touted the killing of Osama bin Laden before the troops as though he was a part of Navy Seal Team Six. “Oorah”
It was reminiscent of Burl Ives comment in ” Cat On A Hot tin Roof” — ‘Mendacity.’
Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona also saw the mendacity in the president’s spin, noting that Obama had opposed the troop surge ordered by former President George W. Bush who should be credited with helping secure stability in Iraq.
“For three years, the president has been harvesting the successes of the very strategy that he consistently dismissed as a failure,” McCain said on the Senate floor today.
He sharply criticized the decision of a full withdrawal, McCain said history would judge Obama’s leadership “with the disdain and scorn it deserves.”
Obama the candidate promised a different Washington when he entered the White House, one that would provide ‘transparency’ – ‘it would not be politics as usual.’ He is absolutely right, there is no transparency and what was, has gotten worse under Obama policies.
Nothing demonstrates this spin better than what he called a “Dumb War” and now projects it as a War of ‘success.’
Yes, ‘mendacity’ is the word that describes the Obama administration on a multitude of fronts.
