President Obama is not only the Commander in Chief but he also envisions himself as a ship’s Captain in stormy seas.

The chosen one must have interesting dreams as he saw himself as a ship’s Captain when being interviewed by CBS’s Steve Kroft in a 60 Minutes interview which was aired Sunday night.

“No matter how well we’re steering the ship, if the boat’s rocking back and forth and people are getting sick and, you know, they’re being buffeted by the winds and the rain . . .  if you’re asking, ‘are you enjoying the ride right now?’ folks are going to say, ‘No,”  Obama said.  “People are going to say, ‘You know what? A good captain would have had us in some smooth waters and sunny skies at this point.’  And I don’t control the weather.”

The analogy wasn’t very good, not even the weather comment.  For even a poor Captain would have found smooth seas after three years.

It is obvious he was never a ship’s captain, nor capable of commandeering  a ship to calm seas, clear weather and smooth sailing.

It was a rather interesting interview, especially for CBS which often gives the president a pass.  Kroft put Obama on the defensive and on at least one occasion Obama told him, “You got your story wrong.”

That’s not a very endearing comment to a journalist.

Kroft pointed out the criticism that Obama is engaging in class warfare, calling for “redistribution of wealth.” seems to be a combative president, is not reaching out and seems to always think the nation’s problems are always someone else’s fault.

Obama said it was his job to see that “my party rallies around my vision.”

He said that anything he was for the Republicans were against. He  says ‘they’ are out to make me a one-term president.

“The problems is, is that our politics has gotten to the point where we can’t have an honest conversation about the greatest income inequality since the 1920′s, and we can’t have an honest conversation about the irresponsibility that resulted in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, without somebody saying that somehow we’re being divisive,” Obama said.  “No, we’re being honest about what happened and we’ve got to be honest about how we move forward.”

The reality, however, is that a CBS/New York Times poll said this weekend that 54% of Americans think Obama is doing a poor job and doesn’t deserve another term.

And then we got more of what we can expect during the next year as Obama campaign’s for reelection.

He saved us from a Great Depression, rescued the auto industry, gave us healthcare reform, financial reforms, ended ‘don’t ask don’t tell’, decimating Al Qaeda, and the death of Osama bin Laden.

When Obama quotes his Vice President Joe Biden on national television, you know he is in deep water and stormy seas.

“I’m being judged against the ideal, And, you know, Joe Biden has a good expression.  He says, ‘Don’t judge me against the Almighty, judge me against the alternative.’”

And so Obama has laid out his campaign strategy which you will hear many times over.  He will run against the alternative, for he can’t run on his record.

You see when ‘you are steering a ship’ you never call it a ‘boat’, and when you are searching for smooth seas and calm weather and you can’t find it in three years — you have to be honest with yourself,  it’s a long time to be ‘seasick.’
