I don’t know if I am just tired of hearing the same old same old rhetoric, but the GOP debates seem to me to be something that represents a marriage on the rocks, he said she said.
They come off sounding rather sophomoric, with little substance and perhaps this is due to the format and the moderators.
And when it’s all over the pundits try to place some level of sophistication on the debate and say that Newt Gingrich came out on top because he is without question the best debater of the group, but the real question is whether he is the best presidential candidate.
There is no question that the Republican candidates recognize and elucidate that the President of the United States is facing a fiscal and job crisis and that he fosters an entitlement society.
But they do little to tell us what they are going to do about it with a Washington DC that they say the people are sick of.
Obama told us how he was going to make DC different than it was before he got in office, provide more transparency, and what we got was worse.
As a result we have a government, believing the present administration’s rhetoric, that want’s to protect ourselves from ourselves when we don’t want it nor are we asking for it.
All the typical issues are raised, like immigration, character and they all try to tell us what it is about the measure of a man or woman, trying to define who they are and what drives them.
I found last night’s debate hosted by ABC news with the likes of George Stephanopoulos and Diane Sawyer, rather bland, not well moderated and a waste of my time. Now this was not just their fault, the candidates had something to do with this.
They were all caught up in their own egos; their attacks on each other were as weak as their attacks on President Obama.
Mitt Romney, didn’t score many points on Newt and Gingrich, who is the best debater of the group, held his own.
Ho Hum.
Trump should cancel the debate he is scheduled to moderate with Gingrich and Santorum, after all the other candidates have bailed, and he should run himself with Christie.
