Marco Rubio could very well be the closer for the GOP’s presidential nominee in 2012, much like Mariano Rivera is to the New York Yankees.

Rubio, a freshman Senator, is attractive, articulate, has the inherent American values needed in a leader, represents the bell-weather State of Florida, has been tapped as a rising star, and on top of all of this, he will deliver the Hispanic vote.

Assuming the Republicans pick the right presidential candidate, Rubio would be the VP candidate to close the deal and give government back to the people

In his maiden Senate speech this week, he said, “We Americans are as great as we have ever been.  But our government is broken.  And it is keeping us from doing what we have done better than any people in the history of the world.  Create jobs and prosperity.”

He said that if Washington could just find agreement on a plan to get control of the debt, make the tax code simpler and predictable and ease up on some of the onerous regulations, he said the American people would take care of the rest.

He said the people need a government that lives within its means.  “A government that can afford to pay for the things government should be doing, because it does not waste money on the things government should not be doing,” he said.

Rubio believes in America’s political, economic and cultural exceptionalism.  He said, “If we can deliver on a few simple but important things, we have the chance to do something that’s difficult to imagine is even possible.  An America whose future will be greater than her past.”

Rubio is the type of leader and closer that would help a new administration to deliver strikes rather than the foul balls the Obama administration has served up.
