It was easier yesterday, the Indians were the bad guys and the cowboys were the good guys, but then came along the Lone Ranger and Tonto and that was confusing; until a tribe of Indians attacked both and the Lone Ranger said to Tonto, “What are we going to do now kimosabe?” And Tonto said, Whataya mean “we.”

The sheriff was good and Jessie James was bad; but Robin Hood was bad yesterday, but perhaps good today, because he practiced wealth re-distribution.

In World War II the bad guys had slanty eyes and their allies had hob nail boots.

It seemed in those days you could always tell the good guys from the bad guys by what they wore.

Often in a war the combatants could tell who the bad guy was by the uniform he was wearing.

And, those sitting on the sidelines could tell who to root for depending on what side they were on.

Since 9/11 the US has taken the battle for that atrocity, one that was greater than what brought this country into World War II, to the Middle East and started three wars with three different countries.

And, I still don’t know if we know who the good guys are.

In the Middle East you can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys, because they all wear sheets and look like towel heads.

An American spy stands out like a sore thumb.

President Obama calls our bombardment of Libya a humanitarian cause to protect the civilians, but from a policy position he thinks Qaddafi must go, but he’s not a target.

He promises no “American boots on the ground,” but signs a secret order allowing “covert operations.”  That I guess, means that the CIA is trying to find out the good guys from the bad ones.  And because Obama said no “boots on the ground” they are wearing flip flops.

The NATO Commander, an Admiral in The United States Navy, Adm James G. Stavridis warns that the rebels in Libya have Al-Qaeda links.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton gets caught between a rock and a hard place when the Obama administration takes a position that the UN arms embargo on Libya does not prohibit countries from providing arms to rebels who are fighting to over throw the Qaddafi regime.

Clinton said yesterday that no “decision” has been made to provide arms to the rebels, but others say it is under active consideration.  Are they the good guys?

Now they say Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) has evolved as the Obama administration’s key interlocutor, (wow, I’ll have to look that one up) with Syrian president Bashar al Assad.

Kerry has promoted the view that ‘engagement’ between the US and Syria could change the orientation of a regime that has been Iran’s closest Arab ally, and a weapons supplier to Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Does Kerry really know whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy?  I don’t think so, two weeks ago mass protests erupted because of Assad’s brutal repressions.  To date Assad’s security forces slaughtered 60 people for taking to the streets to shout slogans such as “we want only freedom” and “no to Iran.”

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think our leaders have any idea who the good guys are when it seems to me they are about to support the bad guys.

Bring back the Indians, they weren’t so bad.  We didn’t know it at the time, but we screwed them anyway.
