Remember that song ‘Undecided’, when the lyrics went like this:
“First you say you do, and then you don’t.  And then you say you will, and then you won’t; You’re undecided now, so what are you gonna do?”
Sounds a bit like Arabs, Muslims, Obama, or for that matter all three.

Well, it is somewhat sophomoric, but then again President Obama is in his second year of a four year term that most of his critics didn’t think he was qualified for at the outset.  Unfortunately he is proving his critics right.

Operation Odyssey Dawn, declaring war on Libya by coalition forces from Europe, and we think Arab partners, should have been named Operation Confusion.

Even when Obama tries to be transparent by delivering opaque messages he is obviously being duplicitous, as I said in my last column, before the confusion was unveiled over the weekend by him and his military minions delivering mixed messages of the objective and the end game plan.

Obama seems to explain away the confusion, reflected in this column’s headline, by saying it is US ‘policy’ that Gadhafi has to go; but the military objective ‘specifically is the protection of civilians in Libya.’

General Carter Ham who is now in charge of the coalition, for the time being, said he could complete his mission of protecting civilians and creating a ‘no fly zone’, noting that his objective was not to take out Gadhafi.  He did say the mission was ‘not ideal.’

Over the weekend Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs, described the campaign’s aims as “limited.”

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mullen was asked if it was possible that the mission’s goals could be achieved while leaving Col. Gadhafi in power? Mullen said, “That’s certainly potentially one outcome.”

Meanwhile the Brits hit Gadhafi’s compound with missiles to be followed with air strikes; but the air strikes were thwarted when British pilots recognized Gadhafi called in the press and local residents as human shields to any followup strikes.

What Obama, political and military leaders are thinking about this Chinese fire drill is confounding at best.

We along with our allies are interfering in a civil war, we create a no fly zone, what, to create a balance between the opposing forces, and then pull out allowing the two forces to re-engage with the possibility of Gadhafi winning and staying in power?

It is time to examine Obama’s reliance on UN Security Counsel’s words in resolution 1973, to determine if it is in line with the Constitution of the United States.  We can’t count on Obama to do that, even though he taught Constitutional law; after all he was too busy preparing for his vacation to Rio.
