As I understand it disambiguation is a clarification that follows from the removal of ambiguity, or an interpretation that removes obstacles to understanding.

I am still trying to understand President Obama, especially in relation to the way the nation saw him before he became President and the way in which the people now see him.

Let’s conceded a few points: Obama is a likable guy and a smooth politician.

But, he is ambiguous, disingenuous, hypocritical and a left wing liberal.

The midterm elections when the Republicans swept the House was a cause for Obama to rethink his future course, especially if he wants to be a second term president.

But he denies this.  In a 15 minute interview with Bill O’Reilly of Fox News Obama was asked if he was moving to the center as a result of the midterm elections and that you are a left wing guy who believes in wealth redistribution as was being suggested by the Wall Street Journal in an editorial.  O’Reilly: Do you deny the assessment?  Do you deny that you are a man who wants to redistribute wealth?

Obama: Absolutely.

O’Reilly: You deny that?

Obama: Absolutely.  I didn’t raise taxes once, I lowered taxes over the last two years.

This is untrue on a number of fronts in particular the entitlements that you championed do redistribute wealth in the sense that they provide insurance coverage for 40 million people that don’t have it, O’Reilly said.

Obama said in response, what is absolutely true is I think in this country, there’s no reason why, if you get sick you should go bankrupt.  The notion that that’s a radical principle, I don’t think the majority of people would agree with you.

Wrong again, the majority of the people in the polls do not support Obamacare.

O’Reilly came back and said, Ok, but you understand that a lot of Americans feel you’re a big government liberal who wants to intrude on their personal freedom.

Obama said, I’m the same guy, My practical focus, my common-sense focus right now is how do we out-innovate, out-educate, out-building, out- compete the rest of the world?  How do we create jobs here in the United States of America? How do we make sure that businesses are thriving? But how do we also – make sure that ordinary Americans can live out the American dream?

These were the talking points delivered to the President as part of his pre-interview preparation.  O’Reilly interrupted the President 13 times in 15 minutes and if he didn’t Obama would have usurped the interview with one question by using 6, 7 up to 10 minutes to answer one question understanding the time restraint.

An interview on a one on one basis with the President is difficult at best, because there is an aura around him.  Obama is a smart nimble politician.  He knows not to give news in an interview.  News is to be delivered in a controlled environment dictated by the White House.

However, O’Reilly did try to get some news out of Obama on Egypt.

All right. Mubarak, is he going to leave soon?

Well, he’s — only he knows what he’s going to do.

But here’s what we know: Egypt is not going to go back to what it was.  the Egyptian people want freedom.  They want free and fair elections.  They want a representative government.  They want a responsive government.

I find some of these ambiguous comments disingenuous.  Granted the question wasn’t asked about the $1.3 Billion per year for some 30 years given to the Mubarak administration in addition to another $28 billion in aid, a contribution only second to Israel.  Did this contribute to the unrest of the people?  The US supporting a dictator, in effect filling his own coffers making him today a multi billionaire several times over, doesn’t sit well with the people.

And, isn’t there a quid pro quo to the US for such sizable aid, other than just peace in the Middle East?

It is well know that we have a spending president in the White House; he, claiming he did this to prevent a depression.  He took us to a $14 trillion debt and yet had the audacity during the State of the Union address to use the word ‘invest’ now instead of ‘spend’ trying to fool the people with ambiguity.

Today President Obama announced that he was proposing ‘short-term relief” to states saddled with unemployment insurance debt, coupled with a delayed increase in the income level used to tax employers for aid to the jobless.  In other words this will be another bailout that he will tuck into the budget next week.  This is a president that just doesn’t get.  He tells the common man to live within his budget but does otherwise in his administration on the way to big intrusive government.

The Obama’s even want to tell Americans what to eat and if they had their way, how much we will be allowed to eat.

Michelle wrapped her arms around the retail giant Wal-Mart and then tried to cajole food makers into producing nutrition labels that are easier to understand, provide more nutritional food for our children in schools and now she is meeting with the National Restaurant Association to adopt her concept of smaller portions to be served in restaurants.

As a result, the early bird special in Florida will have a new meaning, to the degree one meal will no longer be amortized over three days and there will be nothing left to feed the dog.

Who are these people to tell us what to eat, how much to eat when they themselves hold a Super Bowl party serving some 100 people with a menu consisting of : bratwurst, kielbasa, cheeseburgers, deep-dish pizza and buffalo wings with sides of German potato salad, twice-baked potatoes and assorted chips and dips along with beer and liquor?

It was interesting to note in the opening salvo of the Obama interview that O’Rielly thanked the president for his intervention in helping two Fox New reporters that were roughed up during the protests in Egypt.

Obama said, Well, listen, those guys showed enormous courage, as so many journalists do around the world.  And so, not only was it important for us to make sure they were safe for them and their families, but to uphold the basic principle of free speech and freedom of the press. That’s a universal value we cared about.  And I know Fox cares about.

These comments were quite significant, in light of the Obama’s administration early years when they said ‘Fox News was not a legitimate news organization.”

My how times have changed.  Fox News today is the most powerful and influential news organization on TV.

Obama is forced to recognize Fox as a news organization by one simple fact – its audience.  I don’t believe Obama’s opinion of Fox has changed for one moment, he just employs ambiguity, as the smart, nimble politician he is.
