We are the greatest nation in the world, with the most sophisticated intelligence system ever conceived, so I thought.  And then someone by the name of Julian Assange came along creating an Internet site called WikiLeaks and blew the socks out of President Obama’s basketball shoes.

I mean how do I wrap my mind around these facts? He releases 250,000  secret American diplomatic cables allegedly coming from a Pfc in the United States Army, by the name of Bradley Manning.  A Pfc in the Army has access to 250,000 secret documents?

I was a seaman in the Navy and I had access to the weather reports, with top secret clearance.

With this dramatic leak of classified information we seem to be focusing on the individual that released the information rather than the administration that allowed the leaks to exist.

When is President Obama going to step up to the plate and tell us where the leaks came from.  They didn’t come from Pfc Manning without help from or an  assist from people high up in the administration.

Transparency – where is it?

We have Interpol running around the world trying to find Assange, but no one, including the main stream media, is asking the question how did these leaks occur?  It didn’t happen because of a Pfc in the Army.

And now according to a New York Times story with a headline that says “Don’t Look, Don’t Read: Government Tells Workers To Avert Eyes From Leaks.”

Meanwhile top leaders in Afghanistan and Pakistan politically dismiss damaging cables.

This story has legs and Assange is not going to let it go away.  Despite attempts from unknown sources to shut down his internet site, it is up and running and you can find it under www.wikileaks.ch.

And you can bet this story goes far beyond Pfc. Bradley Manning.

There are those that want to call Assange a terrorist that has committed high level international espionage crimes, to those that believe that he revealed the truth that people of the world should know.

But where does President Obama net out on this issue.  We haven’t heard much from him.  His comments are guarded, but isn’t our national intelligence one of his responsibilities?

And, all I know at this time is that some Pfc leaked the information.

No one seems to be denying the cables existence, although some around the world seem to be denying the cables content, with not much success.

And, Julian Assange and WikiLeaks apparently has more to come to assure the people’s right to know.

Until we find out the true intent and the motivation of this man it is hard to figure out where this will net out.  However, world leaders were caught off guard by these revelations, the main stream media had no clue and it has obviously caused world wide political embarrassment.

But did it really do more than that , that which was not known?

I will not know, you will not know, unless Obama reveals some transparency to the American people as he promised as a candidate.
