House Speaker Nancy Pelosi flew on her proverbial broom today with rhetoric that on the surface seems to be in conflict with President Obama as well  as Senate Majorty Leader Harry Reid when she called for a probe into the the funding behind the opposition to the mosque near ground zero rather than investigating the funding behind the building of the mosque near sacred ground.  The Obama progressives are sounding more and more like, ‘The Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight.’

Pelosi said the whole dispute has been ‘ginned up’.  Well there is no question that on the basis of the mixed messages coming from our leaders – Obama, Pelosi and Reid – someone is ‘ginned up’.

It appeared that President Obama was going to sidestep this issue initially.  But then it was Obama that brought the issue into the political arena when at a dinner held at the White House last Friday celebrating the end of Ramadan, he announced his support for the mosque by saying that ‘Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in the US and to do so in Manhattan.’

A day later he backs off the comment by saying he wasn’t endorsing the specifics of the mosque plan nor was he going to comment on the ‘wisdom’ of its location.

Harry Reid opposed the president’s view and said the mosque should be built somewhere else other than near ground zero.

No one is saying the mosque shouldn’t be built, even those in opposition to it.  They are saying it shouldn’t be built two blocks from ground zero.  You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand why.

Now, Pelosi calls for a probe of the funding sources behind the opposition to the mosque, while also riding her broom on both sides of the issue in a statement that says, “I support the statement made by the Interfaith Alliance that, ‘We agree with the (Anti Defamation League) that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center.  At the same time, we should also ask who is funding the attacks against the construction of the center,” she said.

Pelosi’s base is far removed from mid-town Manhattan and I guess there is a rationale for insensitivity when riding a broom, but when the Speaker is not having a senior moment, she should try thinking of the firefighters who lost their lives and the families that are still grieving, the people who died in those burning towers and those that grieve for them and the first responders and their families and those that jumped out of windows to escape the flames.    Their bodies were evaporated in that hallow and sacred ground. Even today there are first responders suffering after effects of this attack on our nation.

And yes, those that committed this heinous act were Muslims, practicing the religion of Islam and praised Allah.  Beyond the grieving families that were touched by this terrorist act there is a nation of people out there that are also still in mourning and will not forget that horrific day.

Go ahead investigate them, investigate me for that matter, for if they need funding for opposition to this mosque, I would be more than willing to give.

The probe you should be supporting is where is the money coming from to build a $100 million plus mosque?  Hamas, a terrorist organization in the Mid-East supports the construction at this site.  The Iman who would head the mosque, thinks the US participated in the cause of 9/11, yet the administration sends him on a junket to the Mideast to promote Muslim relations.

Pelosi thinks the issue is posing a distraction and that some organized force is behind it. She wants to know who this force is?

Well, don’t waste anymore taxpayers money, it’s The Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight – the leadership of this progressive administration.
