When the volcano blew in Iceland, the name of which few newscasters could pronounce, and ash took over the atmosphere grounding planes worldwide people couldn’t get where they wanted to go.

Some were stranded in places they wanted to be, others were stranded in places they didn’t want to be, but were there by circumstance, whether it be for vacation, business, or personal reasons.

I couldn’t help but think about all of the wishes people have over a lifetime to be in places that they have always dreamed of, Paris, London, New York, Monte Carlo, Rome and on and on.

And then when they are there for whatever the reason and it’s time to come home – it’s time to come home.  It’s not a time to be stranded and inconvenienced. No matter how pleasant the place, the first thought that comes into mind is, ‘It’s time to go home.’

Of course when the volcano blew and became a pain in the ash to some 90,000 people wanting to move on it is difficult to reset your state of mind, even if it’s a place you thought you always wanted to be perhaps for ever.   To readjust your mindset, even if the monetary effect was of no concern, when it’s time to move on even if you might want to come back, it is time to go home.

Four days before the Volcano erupted I was in Paris, a favorite city.  But after some six visits the people of Paris left me, not the city nor the people of France-just the people of Paris.

I would not be a happy camper in Paris -stranded by ash. It was time to come home.

When it’s time to come home, it’s not time to bath in sinks at JFK Airport or in portable showers.

Yes, you can go home again, because very frankly it’s the most comfortable place to be.

I hope all of those inconvenienced by this natural event safely get where they want to be and are finally comfortable in a place you call home.
