There is an operative statement that permeates the White House: “Whatever it takes to get health care done,” Robert Gibbs, press secretary confirmed this week.  And that’s the way it works in Obama’s house of ‘change’, which more likely resembles a house of cards, from the Louisiana purchase, the corn husker deal and now a lifetime political judgeship for Scott M Matheson Jr., in exchange for his brother’s -  Rep. Jim Matheson, D, Utah – yea vote on health care reform.

Congressman Matheson called the charge that Obama was trying to buy his vote “absurd.”  Matheson voted Nay when the health care bill first came up in the House, but now says he is undecided on whether to vote for health care reform when it reappears in the House.

And, White House press secretary called the obvious quid pro quo, “silly.”

However, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck you have every right to call it what it is – a home-bred Chicago-style Obama deal.

During an interview on CNN’s ‘Larry King Live.’ Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., called for an investigation into the appointment.

“What in the world is going on at the White House?” she asked.  “Because today, the president offered a judgeship to the brother of a member of Congress.  Tonight, the president has that same member of Congress at the White House pressuring him to change his vote on health care.  We really need to have an independent investigation into this matter.”

President Obama promised many things when he was running for the highest office in the land, no lobbyist’s in his White House, no increase in taxes for those making under $250,000 per year, no deals or special favors and he would focus on Jobs for the people of America.  It was not going to be the same old same old DC during his administration – no, it turned out not only to be the same, but worse.

Lobbyists became part of the administration, Andy Stern the President of SEIU made more visits to the White House than any other in behalf of his Union, taxes will go up for those making less than $250,000, especially if health care reform goes through, deals abound as though they were a part of Obama’s DNA and health care reform became the focus, not jobs, unemployment soared to 14.9 million.

I’ve used the word many times before because it succinctly sums up this administration – Mendacity!
