President Obama may know how to shoot baskets, but he sure doesn’t know how to pivot to a centrist, albeit liberal position, despite dramatic signals from the populist in Virgina, New Jersey, and Massachusetts that has changed the political landscape in the last year for he sang, even according to his liberal supporters, the same song that got him into the White House in the first place.  He can’t get out of the campaign mode.

Times have changed because of his performance, but he hasn’t recognized it.

There was no recognition of a disconnect with the people.

He continues to bash Bush.

His philosophy on Health Care Reform continues to be,  ‘Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead; same for cap and trade, and now he wants a second stimulus plan with more government spending.

He continues to promote big government

Yes, he is tone deaf to what the people are saying, he spins the people’s messages to his agenda.

He does not see the people’s response as a repudiation of his administration.

He continues to be weak on terror, never mentioned the Christmas Day bomber, the failure to interrogate him for more than 50 minutes and then read him Miranda rights as though the terrorist was a US citizen and wants to try him in a civil court.

Gitmo a place that was to be closed by Obama by now never came up in the State of the Union.

He called the past 10 years a difficult decade and his past year, difficult, but followed this up with “I don’t quit.”

Behind him there was the usual cast of characters, VP bobble head Biden and Jack in the Box Pelosi.

It was a long speech, 70 min. in length, paused 86 times for applause  mentioning ‘I” 96 times and rather boring in delivery.
