The greatest error anyone can commit is the error of omission, in baseball it could be compared to failing to be where you should be to execute the double play; in politics it could be the same thing because you refuse to accept that the US is in the midst of a War on Terror.

An error of omission in the case of the near-disaster by a ‘terrorist’ on Christmas day is worse than an unforced error because it is a hard-headed philosophical belief by the Obama administration that ‘terrorism’ does not exist nor are we in a ‘War on Terror’, but it is something, that when it occurs, has been labeled by the administration as ‘man-made disasters.’

And to compound this because it is not a war, Obama believes the alleged perpetrators should be read their Miranda Rights and tried in a US Court of law rather than being dealt with through a military tribunal.

The near-bomb disaster on the Christmas Day Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit was thwarted by a heroic passenger and not by an Obama intelligence system that had all the facts to prevent the near disaster by blocking the self-admitted Al Qaeda operative Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab of passage to the United States.  The Yemen trained terrorist was banned from entry to the United Kingdom, was on a US  list of individuals with Al Qaeda connections and the US was warned of these radical concerns by the father of the suspect weeks before.

A classic case of an error of omission, reminiscent of the Ft. Hood massacre by suspect Major Nidal Malik Hasan which President Obama stonewalled with comments that ‘we shouldn’t jump to conclusions’ despite the fact that we knew before one attempt and the execution of ‘terrorism’, that both suspects had connections to Is Al Awlaki an American born radicalized cleric.

Obama appears to be more interested in symbolism rather than substance, so much so he wouldn’t even interrupt his Hawaii vacation to address the threat Islamic terrorists pose to our nation’s security.  Yes, it is very much like failing to be where you should be to execute the double play.

His reaction to blowing up the plane as it was descending to land in Detroit ranged from passiveness to reassure a country on the move during the holidays to finding out what happened with the terrorist watch-list system and airport security procedures.

Obama will not hold a high-level Situation Room meeting with Cabinet secretaries and top intelligence and security officials until next Tuesday the day after he is expected to return from vacation.

Michigan Rep. Peter Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee believes the Obama administration has understated the threat Islamic terrorists pose to our nation’s security.

“In reality, it’s getting much more complex.  Radicalization is alive, it’s well.  They want to attack the United States, that threat is here in the United States . . . homegrown terrorism, the threat to the United States is real, I think the administration has downplayed it.  They need to recognize it, and identify it, and realize you have to defeat it,” he said.

Based upon the Koran one can see the fine line that can be drawn between the practice of the Muslim religion and the belief that a better life awaits one for the cause of Allah and why the radicalization of some to transform themselves into human bombs can take place.

Obama’s policy not to engage nor recognize this War on Terror, does not bode well for the citizens of this nation.
