One day President Obama touts jobs and the economy, the next day he threatens Congress that if it doesn’t move to regulate greenhouse gases by passing the Cap & Trade Bill, the Environmental Protection Agency will take action that will hurt business.
So the clear message here is if Obama doesn’t get his way in his global warming agenda, despite the revelations of climate-gate, he will sacrifice jobs and the US economy, despite his contrary promises to the American people the previous day.
The Chicago style warning from a White House operative who would only speak on the condition of anonymity – that’s the way the hit-men work in Chicago – said the EPA would take a “command-and-control” role over the process in a way that could hurt business.
The operative who spoke with reporters Tuesday night made it clear that the EPA will not wait and is prepared to act on its own. And he said it won’t be pretty.
“If you don’t pass this legislation, then . . . the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area,” the operative said. “And it is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it’s going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more uncertainty.”
The operative went on to say, “So, passing the right kind of legislation with the right kind of compensations seems to us to be the best way to reduce uncertainty and actually to encourage investment.”
The timing for this White House operative’s threat came on the eve of EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson’s address to the international conference on climate change in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Climate change legislation has passed the House, but is stuck in the Senate. The EPA finding was seen as a boost to convince other countries that Washington is capable of taking action to meet leftist leanings in Denmark.
I address in an earlier column the “uncertainty” the Obama administration propagates to meet its socialist agenda and this move indicates that it will go as far as sacrificing jobs and the economy to achieve its goals.
Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., ranking Republican on the House Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming called the revelation surrounding climate-gate, “scientific fascism.”
Al Gore who invented the ‘information highway”, a fictional dream he often has known today as the Internet, said the e-mails in question revealing climate-gate were 10 years old and taken out of context. He was wrong again, many were written in the past year and some within the past month.
Few Americans realize the degree to which the US Constitution has been eroded over the years, when regulatory and executive orders from the President can become law, when the intent of our founding fathers was that only the Congress can make laws.
It is, however, no surprise that we are seeing Chicago-style politics executed in the White House.
