The centrist Democrats are listening to the people on health care reform, while the left wing liberals are stonewalling reality and President Obama finds himself capitulating somewhere between a rock and a hard place.

Obama finds his dream of being the father of health care reform ebbing.

Last month he said he would not sign a health care bill if it didn’t have a public option – that is a government run health care program.

Last week he said the public option was not a critical part of the plan.

Democrats admit that the votes are not there for a public option, but hard-headed House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, says the public option is in all three House Bills.

Obama lost his window of opportunity when Congress recessed before ‘rushing’ the health care reform bill through before the people had a chance to speak.

It was important to pass it fast under the Saul Alinsky thesis of ‘Rules For Radicals’ that Obama and his cadre of advisers and Czars follow, for otherwise the tables begin to turn and the people – the smart people – begin to use the same tactics.

And that is exactly what happened as the town hall meetings exploded and Obama finds himself in a position that is not very comfortable – retreat.

The rock and hard place he finds himself in ironically is not with the people, but between the centrists and liberals of his own party.

I suppose that’s the way a Democracy works when the people speak.  And, it’s important that they not stop speaking because more is on the horizon.  For you see Alinsky followers are persistent.

On the positive side, “This Was A Now Or Never” move by Obama.  The people have stalled the movement, but make no mistake that the liberals will not kill the bill.  Something will pass and it will mean more regulation, not necessarily for the good.  But for the time being it looks like the trend is for the government to not put their nose in our health care any more than they already have.

However, for Obama there are more troubles on the horizon that we plan to cover in this space to add to his health care woes:

  • The war in Afghanistan is not winnable
  • Cap & Trade is a bad idea
  • Card Check is a bad idea
  • Our recession is in a muted recovery
  • There are predictions that there will be 10% unemployment through 2011 which will level off to 8% thereafter
  • Small Business, where 70% of the jobs come from, need more help then the big corporations that are getting the bailouts
  • The stimulus program didn’t work
  • And the clunker program is proving to be a clunker

I would love to me more positive, but Obama policies, unless they are drastically modified, do not bode well for the near future.
