There appears to be general by-partisan consensus that there is a need for Health Care Reform; however, on such a critical issue which impacts all, the prudent course should be to take the time to get it right.
Many are asking, even among Obama’s own party, ‘what’s the rush?’
Well the ‘rush’ has to do with Obama’s playbook, which says ram as much as you can through the legislative process as early as you can while you have the momentum.
Polls now show that after only six short months in the White House, Obama is loosing momentum.
Deliberation runs the risk of careful evaluation, debate and political influence over the salient points of the health care bill. This is not what Obama wants — even he hasn’t read the content.
An example of the Obama ‘rush’ formula was seen in the passage of the stimulus bill, which has yet to stimulate a tree frog, least of all jobs, and the energy bill, both of which were ‘rushed through congress with nary a legislator or the President reading their contents.
The impact of the trillion dollar bill in the current house form could result in the loss of more jobs taking the unemployment rate to 12 %, sending the country into bankruptcy — despite VP Biden’s theory that you have to spend to stay out of bankruptcy — and providing poorer health care for all.
To pay for all of this, which will be left as an Obama legacy to our children and grandchildren, we will immediately redistribute wealth by taxing the rich and small business and streamlining Medacare and Medicaid to make them more efficient. When has our government made anything more efficient? The Post Office and Amtrak come to mind.
The government has already taken over our financial institutions, our banks, the mogatages on our homes and the auto industry. Now, health care and we are not even going to take the time on this critical issue to do it right — no one is going to read the bills that have been written. The government is already in our pockets, now it wants to get into our shorts.
Efficiency for Medicare and Medicaid means less preventive care, fewer tests, fewer doctors, possible economic cleansing of the elderly, longer waits for care, poorer care for all, but all will be inclusive.
The only way to control cost is to deny care through a formula. If you are outside the formula you loose. For example if bladder cancer is not the norm in an 18 year old, the test to rule out the diagnosis would be denied; likewise if cervical cancer is not the norm in a 23 year old woman the test to rule it out would also be denied.
The health care horror stories coming out of the European Union and Canada are not conards.
The norm in this socialistic health care system is that the government decides whether to treat or not; whether an operation is necessary; what drugs to use; who the doctor should be and in order to get a decision on your health care issues, you have to wait 8 weeks for an appointment by a doctor chosen for you by the government.
If it took Obama 4 months to pick a dog and he hasn’t yet selected a church in 6 months, certainly we can take some more time to get health care reform right. Allow bipartisan participation in the formulation of the bill, allow the bill to be read by legislators, we the people and allow debate on this critical issue. It’s called transparency, Mr. President.
