Palin steps down

Gov. Sarah Palin in announcing that she would not seek re-election and will transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor Parnell July 26, compared her role in Alaska to that of William Seward ‘who providentially saw in this great land, vast riches, beauty, strategic placement on the globe and opportunity.’

Palin noted that he much like her, endured ridicule and mocking for his vision for Alaska, so much so, his purchase was called “Seward’s Folly”.

Unlike most loosing VP candidates, Palin never faded out of public attention after Sen. McCain lost his bid for the presidency.

In fact she has taken unnecessary heat ever since she was tapped by McCain to be his running mate.

The left didn’t want to see a new, pretty, intelligent, unconventional and capable face come on to the political scene.

They sent their DC goons to Alaska digging for dirt.  They couldn’t find any, but along the way trumped up some ethics complaints — 15 in all, but to there dismay they have all been dismissed.

And only this month, nine months after the election, Vanity Fair wrote a devastating article about Palin quoting McCain aides.  It almost appears that both parties fear Palin surfacing as a presidential candidate in 2012 and they want to do there best to put her away early.

Her words were clear yesterday when she said she would not run for re-election and that she would resign her governorship, noting, however, quoting a General who said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

Nevertheless the left-wing media jumped all over the story speculating what it was that she was doing, calling her a quitter and suggesting that perhaps there is something negative she wants to head off  and bluntly saying she couldn’t handle the pressure and enough is enough.

The mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, the New York Times, said in a lead story, “In her tone and some of her words in an often-rambling announcement she sounded like someone who was making a permanent exit from politics after what her friends have called a rough and dispiriting year.”

Sounds like the Times would like to kiss her off sooner than later.

And, in an Op-Ed piece by Gail Collins in the Times she said, “Truly Sarah Palin has come a long way.  When she ran for vice president, she frequently became disjointed and garbled when she departed from her prepared remarks.  Now the prepared remarks are incoherent too.”

Palin noted her accomplishments while in office and said, “So much success in this first term – and with this success I am proud to take credit . . . for hiring the right people.”

And over there at CBS they did an analysis and said, “Until evidence surfaces to the contrary, it seems apparent that Sarah Palin simply decided enough was enough.  Though this unorthodox move will raise further questions about her judgment, her conservative base will continue to supoport her no matter what she does.”

But even CBS needs to qualify their punditry by saying, “Palin has been underestimated many times before in her career, and anyone who assumes that she has dug her own political grave does so at their own peril.”

The media seemed to purposefully ignore, or only partially quote a graph to meet their own political agenda when Palin said, “Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me -sports . . .basketball.  I use it because you’re naive if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now:  A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket . . . and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win.  And I’m doing that – keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities – smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom!  And I know when it’s time to pass the ball – for victory.”

Sure doesn’t sound like a person that is going to be absent from the national political scene.

Palin is working on a book, which is expected to be a block buster, she is set to travel the country, helping the GOP, making political friends and continues to receive thousands of fans and supporters wherever she goes.

Palin will continue to serve as a pinata for the left wing media because they fear Palin’s power-base.

Keep ‘Em Guessing Sarah.
