APTOPIX Obama

The incompetent Press Secretary Robert Gibbs tried to giggle his way out of a difficult inquiry dealing with media management by the Obama administration by the dean of White House correspondents, Helen Thomas, 89, which may have well signaled the end of the liberal media love affair with our president.

Even the liberal media – well use to media management, staged events, by every administration since Helen Thomas covered John F. Kennedy, became somewhat unwired over President Obama’s prepackaged Town Hall Meeting on Health Care where questions were pre-screened by staff and participants who worked for the DNC, including a cancer patient Obama hugged.

Thomas accused the White House of ‘controlling the press.’  She said almost all White House Obama events are ‘prepackaged.’

It would be nice to think that this is a turning point in a love affair between the liberal media and Obama.

The White House press breifing confrontation took place when CBS’ Chip Reid and Helen Thomas double teamed Gibson on the  ‘tightly’ controlled town hall meeting Obama held on health care.

Gibbs wanted to have this discussion after the meeting — but the reporters pursued.

Following a testy exchange during the briefing, Helen Thomas said that not even Richard Nixon tried to control the press the way Obama is.

“What the hell do they think we are puppets?”  Thomas said.  “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants.  We pay them.”

Thomas said she was concerned about the plant by the Obama administration and a writer from the liberal Huffington Post. The writer was invited by the Obama administration to ask a question about Iran.

“When you call the reporter the night before you know damn well what they are going to ask to control you,” Thomas said.

Thomas interrupted back-and-forth between Gibbs and Chip Reid about who was going to decide what questions would be asked of Obama in the town hall meeting.

Thomas told Gibbs, “I’m amazed.  I’m amazed at you people who call for openness and transparency.”

And so, perhaps the liberal media is beginning to see through the lack of transparency, the campaign promises that turn into lies, and the liberal media love affair, that is now affecting the principles of journalism through staged manipulation and media control.
