Palin: Letterman Owes Women An Apology
David Letterman stepped over the line, as many comedians have a propensity to do, when he attacked Sara Palin’s daughter and should be summarily fired by CBS.
During a Trip to New York with her 14-year old daughter Willow, Gov. Sara Palin, made a number of appearances and took in the New York Yankee game with her daughter.
The following night Letterman during his monologue made a number of jokes about the Palin family’s visit to New York.
The monologue featured “Highlights of Sarah Palin’s Trip” and it included: “Bought makeup at Bloomingdale’s to update her ’slutty flight attendant’ look.”
If this slam — hardly a joke — wasn’t bad enough, Letterman went on to say “An awkward moment” occurred for Palin when, “during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by (Yankee third baseman) Alex Rodriquez.”
Letterman did not name the daughter, but latter denied it had to do with Willow.
But it was 14-year old Willow, not her sister Bristol who is a single mom, who was at the game with Sara Palin.
The father Todd Palin said, “any ‘jokes’ about raping my 14-year-old are despicable.”
Sarah Palin charged Letterman with “sexually perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity.”
Letterman, the gutless wonder, came up short of an apology and wants to keep the feud alive to apparently stimulate ratings. You see he is now in a Nielsen ratings battle with Conan O’Brien on NBC’s “Tonight Show”.
To make such outlandish statements about a politician’s daughter is despicable.
Letterman has now invited Palin to be a guest to boost his ratings. “I think we could put these differences behind us.” The offer, extended to both Palin and her husband (“or leave Todd at home,” Letterman suggested.) was turned down.
“The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show,” said a spokeswoman for Palin.
Now, CBS should do the right thing and can Letterman. Had any of these comments been made about the President’s daughters, Letterman would have been gone before he finished his monologue.
