In case you haven’t recognized it, because its moving at the rate of a Japanese Bullet Train, we are on a fast track to socialism and for some industries we are already there, namely financial institutions, banks, the auto industry and health care to come.
We now have some 20 Czars in the Obama Administration, the latest a ‘pay czar’ all reporting to the czar of czar’s, the President of the United States. These czars are accountable only to Obama, not the Congress, nor we the people.
It is a gross circumvention of the Constitution, not dissimilar to the action by the Supreme Court not allowing a judicial hearing of the Chrysler sale to FIAT.
As the constitution erodes so does the free enterprise system and capitalism as we know it.
It is not unusual to expect someone who invests in an industry or business, whether it is an individual, an institution or a government, to want to protect that investment and to some degree influence what goes on within that business, especially if the investment is sizeable.
But what is our government doing involving itself in the business sector? Obviously it’s going to get involved because of the investment. But it shouldn’t be there in the first place, but now that it is it has strings and influence into financial institutions, banks and the auto industry — and soon the health care industry. The Pay Czar is going to tell these companies what they can pay their executives, how they should give out loans, spend the money and the government will tell the auto industry what cars to make, whether we want to buy them or not, and the government is going to tell we the people what health care procedures we can have, despite the need, and what we won’t be allowed.
Business is not going to operate the way business should operate; it’s going to operate by way of politics.
Congressman Barney Frank, a notable name when it comes to financial disasters, recently made a call to General Motors about a GM dealership that was going to be forced to close in New Haven and now it’s staying open. One telephone call saves one dealership; I wonder who that dealer contributes to? How about all the other dealers that don’t have that political influence, perhaps because they were of the other party?
Government in business is bad business and government has proven it. Look at the success it has had with the Postal Department and that wonderful railroad called Amtrak, which government bailed out and was promised to be profitable in no time, but that we are still subsidizing today to the tune of $50B a year.
The government is so savvy about business that it appointed a Chairman of General Motors who admitted today, “I Know nothing about cars.”
The signals coming out of this administration are bizarre at the best.
President Obama no more than touches down from his trip to the Middle East where he long planned to appease and apologize to Muslims, snub the Brits and the French, and then he yells from the roof tops to spend, spend, spend money from the stimulus package because the job picture doesn’t look very good.
Only a day goes by and he is standing before his teleprompters with his Democratic puppets behind him urging the passage of “pay-as-you-go” legislation that would require any new tax cut or automatic spending program to be paid for within the budget.
You see “the pay as you go” principle, he says, is very simple. “Congress can only spend a dollar if it saves a dollar elsewhere.” Wow, that almost has some semblance of common sense. Of course this now all comes after unequaled historic spending in the past five months.
This juxtaposition of spending one day and pay as you go the next should really be on the DC funny pages, that is if it weren’t so pathetically un-comical.
What does it all mean? Well it means that Obama’s campaign promises that 95% of Americans will not see tax increases and will see tax relief instead was a boldface lie. The only way to continue Obama’s spending plan, adding onto what he has already spent, health care reform, is to tax everyone. Remember under the pay-as-you-go legislation, Congress can only spend a dollar if it saves a dollar elsewhere.
It is all part of the Obama playbook. Take for example the neat deal he struck for the Unions at General Motors. They get a big stake of the company; maintain salary, jobs, pension and health plans. Sound like leveling the playing field of the haves and have nots?
I would strongly recommend Democrats, Republicans, the media, those that are on the left, in the middle, or on the right to spend about $13 and buy Rules For Radicals, A pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals by Saul D. Alinsky to understand where Obama is taking this Country at a very rapid pace. If you have noticed everything must be quick, rapid appointments and approvals such as Supreme Court nominee Sotamayor.
Throughout Alinsky’s 196 page book you will see a reocurring theme, that Obama campaigned for and was not dishonest about, wealth redistribution. That’s what took place at General Motors. We are rapidly on our way, look at the financial institutions, banks, the auto industry and next on the list the health care industry. This does not bode well for our Constitution, our freedoms, rights or the free enterprise system.
