Norman Thomas, the Princeton educated socialist, who became a minister, from New York with oratorical skills similar to President Obama, predicted that one day America will be a Socialist nation without even knowing how it happened.
Well, before Obama reaches 200 days in office it is important for citizens of this Nation to know that we are on a fast track to socialism, especially while the wind is still at his back.
It was Thomas, who wore three-piece suits, looked and talked like a president who said, “America will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a Socialist Nation without ever knowing how it happened.”
Thomas ran four times in succession in New York on the Socialist ticket and in 1928 filled a void in the ticket and ran for President. He was unsuccessful in his quest for elected office.
At the time socialism was viewed as an unsavory form of political thought by most middle class Americans.
I do find it somewhat ironic that today we are in similar economic times as we were in 1928 when the middle class rejected socialism.
But today it seems the middle class embraces the concept under the rhetoric of Obama’s silver tongue.
I find it disingenuous that the President would deceptively run under the imprimatur of the Democratic Party as a socialist and that the party would embrace the policies of socialism.
If you don’t think we are already on our way to socialism, please explain to me why the government is running financial institutions, banks, the auto industry — to the point the President fires a CEO — and now tells us what cars we should drive because of carbon emissions?
And to pay for this effort to protect our environment and reduce the amount of oil we use, it will cost us $1,300 in taxes for the purchase of a car that will put our lives at risk by forcing us into vehicles so small and light few passengers will survive a collision.
Perhaps it is another form of human cleansing?
As I have commented in previous columns, this socialistic game plan comes from Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules For Radicals, which is where Obama adopted the concepts of wealth distribution.
Today 50% of Americans do not pay taxes. The other half described as the wealthy, covers the cost of running this country. So as you can see there is some form of wealth distribution already taking place. But Obama wants more as did Alinsky advocate.
We have heard much about Health Care Reform from Obama and on this issue you should look for the following from this administration: The 50% that pays their income taxes will pay more. If you work and pay for a portion of your health care you will no longer receive a tax deduction for this contribution. Furthermore you will pay taxes on the portion that your employer pays for you. And to further pay for what is sure to be a low quality of health care — as has been demonstrated in Canada and the UK — look for taxes on soda and additional taxes on alcohol.
The Senate has already passed a bill that would restrict the credit card industry on interest rates for those that don’t pay their bills on time, resulting in penalizing those that pay their bills on time. This further tightens credit in the market place, takes away perks, increases credit card fees and allows charging interest on credit purchases from the time of the purchase.
On top of all of this there are major states, among them New York, New Jersey and California, on the verge of bankruptcy — all looking for a bailout.
All of this doesn’t bode well for jobs. If we don’t have jobs, how can we pay taxes? These bailouts and the socialistic concept of wealth distribution does not represent capitalism.
Wealth distribution will take us just so far. When the well is dry, where will the Alinsky/Obama game plan take us?
The Republican Party will consider tomorrow labeling the Democratic Party the Socialist Party. I wouldn’t advocate that, although that is what I, as a political pundit, did in this column.
The Republican Party should re-name itself the Conservative Party — return capitalism to the United States and shed yourself of moderate Republicans.
