President Obama can’t seem to segue from the campaign trail to the leadership role of Commander in Chief.

After 100 days in office he celebrated last night in his populist role among the people of America pointing to his radical accomplishments, fostering big government, socialism, introducing outlandish spending as a savior of the economy and the people and becoming CEO of Corporate America while trying to protect we the people by denigrating  techniques of torture he accused the Bush Administration of adhering to.

The times, I am sure he believes, calls for a Messiah.  And he thinks he is it, or at least he is promoting himself as it.

Perhaps I should clarify the definition of a ‘flak’.  It is often referred to as a public relations person.  One that promotes a product, a corporation, or a person.  Flak’s also defend the aforementioned through crisis and issue management.

I once was a flak, following my journalism career, and proud to have been one.  Because I worked in the field of health care, providing information to the public about vital health care issues.  And, yes I defended many a Corporation in the field of issue and crisis management.

As a journalist segueing to public relations, the truth was more important to me than my job.  The true role in a Corporation is a gatekeeper of honesty ethics and due diligence.

But what it is not is self promotion.

America has always been enthralled with Hollywood and celebrities.  Obama is unequivocally a global celebrity.  And this is the way in which the White House advisers will continue to portray him.  For after all there is no one in the White House that can deliver his messages of socialism leading to fascism better than himself.

Oh, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t leave behind the mumbling, bumbling, fumbling Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs — but after all he does it all with out a teleprompter.

Obama said tonight that he thought he was off to a good start.  He said he was pleased with the progress, but, he said “I’m not satisfied.’

He said he wanted to strengthen the economy and our security.

He talked about new rules for Wall Street new rules for Credit Card Companies and new rules for the auto industry.

He already has new rules for financial institutions and banks.

He says he wants to be out of these industries as quickly as possible.  But, realistically how often has government gotten out of anything once they got into it?  Once the Camel’s head is in the tent — you’ve got a Camel.

The press conference was 55 minutes in length with 13 questions.  Thirteen is the magical number, with Obama bloviating to take it to 55 minutes.  This all with the puff ball questions coming from the Liberal Media such as the New York Times asking him to reflect upon his most surprises, enchantments and humbling moments in the White House in the past 100 days.  Miss USA contestants get more difficult questions.

The most poignant question from the impotent liberal White House press corps came from ABC News when he was asked whether the Bush Administration sanctioned torture.  Obama’s response was, “Waterboarding is torture.”  The answer was an obvious yes, although he tried to avoid a direct answer — even after a follow-up question.

But he tried in a rather vein way by citing the Brits public comments of the use of torture, implying that it is not used.  It was a poor analogy, because it is well known that the United Kingdom is ruthless when it comes to interrogation of enemy combatants.

It is interesting to note that President Clinton got 2 prime time news conferences in one term and Obama got 4 in 100 days, what does this say about a self-promoting flak?

Well America, you got what you asked for.  When did the last President of the United States celebrate his first 100 days in the White House with pontificating about achievements with a press corps that served up soft ball questions?  I’m sure after it was all over there were high fives when the President walked behind closed doors.
