You had to believe this was coming, especially when the dog the Obama’s selected — a gift from Sen. Edward Kennedy — was unveiled on Easter weekend. Yes the first family selected a dog before a Church.
You know, I don’t want to make a big deal out of it — but after all there is some symbolism here that reflects upon the hypocrisy, lack of transparency and priorities of this administration.
I like the dog, he’s cute and I hope the kids like him too, I even hope they take on the responsibility to walk him and not leave this responsibility to the President who has enough on his plate. I like the name and his coat; he will fit in well at formal White House dinners — if he behaves himself.
But I would have thought that slick guy in the White House would have known to pick a Church for his family before he picked a dog. After all, Bo’s already six weeks old — what’s another week?
They asked Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today at the daily press briefing about Bo and his response was, “I don’t know the exact movements of the dog.” I thought this was a rather poor choice of words, but then again it was not unexpected from Gibbs.
A reporter asked Gibbs about tomorrow’s Tea Party across the nation protesting tax increases by the Obama administration and all of his spending proposals.
Gibbs said, “I don’t know if the President is aware of the events of tomorrow.”
He doesn’t know of the Tea Parties and the millions of tea bags sent to the White House? Is he still in Saudi Arabia bowing to the King? This is a lack of transparency and hypocrisy all in one simple sentence. Today Obama addressed the nation at noon telling us there was a glimmer of hope in the economy, that things were still bad, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
And tomorrow he will again be addressing the nation on TV telling us that 95% of Americans will be receiving a tax cut. Just don’t turn on your lights, or his tax cut will go away in a flicker.
These are all political tactics to get ahead of the curve and to strategically circumvent the Tea Party events and the publicity that might ensue, and perhaps gain momentum. Oh, but Gibbs doesn’t know any more about the President’s knowledge of the Tea Parties than he does of ‘the exact movements of the dog.’
So much for transparency and hypocrisy.
