It is very doubtful that Barack Obama will use his middle name Hussein when sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and as a result he will join the company of only two previous presidents in recent times that have not done so, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.

One of the most widely read columns on this site was titled, “Why does the name Obama come up Osama when I do a spell check?”  It draws interest even today after Obama was selected our next president.  People are still trying to figure out who he is. As I write this piece in a different program, Obama still comes up Osama when I do a spell check.

Speculation is that his Muslim heritage is something he will continue to distance himself from.  I am sure if he does so, the media will ask the question why?

As for religion, since he disassociated himself from the controversial Rev. Wright and his former church, Obama has not declared a religion and probably attends the basketball courts more often than a church of God.

It appears, during this time of economic crisis, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Great Depression; Obama’s Inauguration will be an extravaganza the likes of which we have not seen before, likewise with a price tag of extraordinary proportions.

While we the taxpayers are bailing out financial institutions, Wall Street and perhaps three major automobile manufactures, our politicians are grousing about individuals within these corporate entities taking bonuses, throwing lavish meetings at posh watering holes and flying on corporate jets to beg for bailout money while one of their own is doing the same.

They call this change?  It looks like the same old, same old to me.  But Obama said the other day during a press conference, even though he might be picking some faces of old — referencing some appointees from the Clinton administration, even one of them — he was putting together an experienced team, even some from Wall Street that put us into this financial crisis.  But he was quick to assure us that change was in the works because it was he that has the vision that will bring the change.  Perhaps he doesn’t need God with this rhetoric.

Well as they say, ‘we will see.’  So far, it seems like politics as usual.
