The rhetoric and poetry that has taken President-elect Barack Obama from the streets of Chicago into the White House is not over and more of the same can be expected for at least the next four years from the silver tongue phenom, all of which is in striking contrast to the rookie’s lack of experience.

However, there is that outside chance that he could do what the Tampa Bay Rays’ rookies did, going from last place to first place in the American League, making the World Series — but coming up short in the end.

This was an emotional election with a lot of contrasts. Black v white, male v female, the first of firsts, experience v a lack of experience, age v youth and mouth v foot in mouth.

The world even had a say.  Our enemies wanted Obama in the White House; I have concerns about what this was saying?  They danced in the streets of Kenya, leaders in South America seemed to be happy along with talk show host Oprah and at least four of the five hosts on The View.

However, this kid’s fast rise from nowhere to somewhere in the Democratic Party is troublesome when we think about the old adage of getting from here to there by ‘paying your dues.’

No one seems to pay their dues any more.  Paying your dues means nothing more than having the experience to hold the position that you are vying for, whether it be in politics or industry.

It was apparent in industry decades ago that individuals in corporations were often promoted to positions of their incompetence.  If this was the case in corporations where the vetting process is much more diligent than in politics, is it any wonder that we had a crisis on Wall Street, while the members of Congress looked on in bewilderment — including our President-elect, Barack Obama, asking themselves ‘how did we get here?’

You see, much like those fast-track execs on Wall Street and those in Corporations who found themselves in a position they were not qualified for because of lack of experience, Obama must be waking up in a cold sweat at night wondering to himself ‘how the hell did I get here.’

Obama gave a speech at a DNC convention and the Dems thought they saw the second coming of Christ.  And, they weren’t far from being wrong when it came to rhetoric.  As Hillary Clinton implied, it was perhaps the most significant thing he did in his lifetime.  However, when it came to experience we had nothing more than a state senator in Chicago that voted more often than not ‘present’ than doing anything with respect to legislation.

When he was elected to the Senate his only contribution was to bring a significant amount of pork to Illinois, take a significant amount of money from lobbyists representing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and not passing any legislation in his two years in the Senate.

Now how’s that for paying your dues.  How’s that for a resume to be President?  How’s that for justifying why you should be President of the United States?

I use to think the electorate was quite astute, I put my faith in their judgment — but the demographics have drastically changed.  After all, we just found out Obama’s Aunt is an illegal alien.  And, how many of those voted — that is illegal aliens?

Obama was no more than elected to his own level of incompetence than the stock market plunged the first and second day following his election.  How is that for a vote of confidence?

Perhaps his Vice President, Joe Biden was right, before he was muzzled, when he said Obama will be tested within six months of taking office with a major global crisis.

Let’s hope the rookie is up to the challenge.
