Now that Barack Obama has been elected the first Afro-American to become President of the United States, we wish him our congratulations on a campaign well fought, well run, well won and done so with presidential class.  We wish him well and stand behind him as all Americans have done with all of our past Presidents.

Nevertheless, as there are needs for amber alerts in this nation for missing children, I believe there is a need for Obama alerts as a result of this election, especially with such an inexperienced President-elect and when our check’s and balance’s have eroded to the degree they have due to a Democratic control of Congress.

Obama’s foot in  mouth Vice President, Joe Biden has predicted that, Obama will be tested with a global crisis within his first six months of his Presidency –”Mark my words,” he said.  Yes he will be tested, but on more levels than from a global terrorist perspective as Biden was suggesting.

As has often been said “No good deed goes unpunished.” John McCain, perhaps, was the victim of this saying, because it was he that supported the surge in the Iraqi war, and unfortunately for him it was a success. And it took the Iraqi issue off the table of debate

Victory was not a battle cry from Obama.

Secondly, President George Bush has been successful in preventing a terrorist attack in the US since 9/11, again not necessarily a good non-event for McCain, because it again took this issue off the table.

And, of course the tsunami melt-down of the financial sector of the US along with jobs and the economy didn’t bode well for McCain.

And so as Forest Gump said, sh— happens!

While we all should support our newly elected President, we must stay alert for the following Obama flaws that have been uncovered as a result of this long drawn out campaign process:

• Economy, taxation, bank/corporate bailouts, wealth distribution, jobs
• Will his policies send US further into a recession, or depression
• Terrorism, war in Iraq, Afghanistan
• Willingness to talk to enemies, unconditionally, Iran, South Korea
• Trade agreements and its relationship to our economy
• Associations, the likes of Ayers, Resko, Wright, Khalidi
• Will any of these names show up in his cabinet
• Despite two years of exposure — who is this man
• Fairness doctrine, is this a President that will curtail freedom of the press
• End of secret ballot for unions

I issue this Obama alert with a sense of responsibility as a citizen, because I believe the Obama alert is well warranted, because he is a person to be watched with the check and balances that our Democracy has in place.  I say this only because after all of what has been written about this man, we still don’t know who he is.  This is not our fault, for it is Obama to define who he is and he hasn’t been able to do this in the past two years.
