The very do nothing Congress that put the US economy in its current state can’t even come together and do the right thing to get the country out of the mess they put us into with a rescue plan that all can agree upon.

They certainly are living up to their image with only 11% of the country believing they are doing their job, the worst poll rating of any Congress.  President Bush’s rating isn’t much better with a positive grade of 29%.

The economic cards started tumbling with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but this didn’t just happen overnight, the Congress saw it coming more than two years ago and failed to act.  It was John McCain who called it to Congress’s attention and introduced a bill to further regulate both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but the Democratic controlled Congress wouldn’t pass the bill.

They all had their opportunity to do something way back then, but what do they do today, what most politicians do so well, point the finger at someone else and divert the responsibility from themselves.

But the public is not as dumb as what most politicians wish them to be or Congress would not have the low positive rating that the Zogby poll reflects at 11%.

Zogby said, “The public mood is not juest dark.  What’s darker than dark?” Zogby asked.  “The mood is getting ugly.”

Meanwhile political theater is taking place in DC from the White House to the Congress with the background of a presidential election where the legislative process for an economic rescue plan is also outright ugly.

The posturing by both parties is not just spohomoric it is reminiscent of children playing in a sand box.

Sen. Harry Reid, the Democratic majority leader and one of best of the sand throwers, was so spitting mad yesterday after a meeting at the White House he couldn’t even speak to reporters, an unusual occurence for any politician.

There appears to be an anti-institution mood running rampant throughout the United States and I believe if the citizenry could they would clean house in the entire Congress and White House and replace these blokes with ordinary citizens who would place the country first before ego, greed or party politics.
