While Barack Obama says we are in “the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression,” he will host a fund raising dinner tonight in Beverly Hills costing attendees $28,000 each and a concert for $2,500 per person.
He is set to break a single day fund raiser of $9 million and to add insult to injury during a financial crisis that cost many citizens millions in pension and retirement funds, Barbara Streisand will sing, “Happy Days Are Here Again.”
McCain said yesterday, “the fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are still very, very difficult times.”
Sen. McCain, ”What economy are you talking about?” said Obama. . . developing.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIt absolutely amazes me that attempts are made to discredit each candidate and in this case attempting to correlate an association with a fundraiser and a financial crisis is ludicrous. Give me a break. Why didn’t you associate the financial crisis with the republican party or the actions of our government to bail out these institutions when there are no provisions in our constitution that allow it. Both of these candidates are credible and in the end just over 50% of the population will decide on one or the other. The way you portray Obama you would have to think those voters who supported him are idiots. In the end we’ve had republicans and Democrats in office and still have War, debt, poverty. What we need is Corporate america to stay out of politics and the press to unbiasedly present facts.
Interesting, I did presicely what you suggested in a most recent column, entitled ‘Leadership Failure, Greed And Incompetence Source Of Financial Crisis’ I point out that the Federal Government also needs to take its share of the blame for failing to properly regulate Wall Street and that source of failure begins in the White House and trickles down to each and every member of Congress” However, one with judgment does not hold a $31,000 per person fundraiser in tinsel town with the intent of raisng $9 million in one day during a financial crisis the proportions of which we haven’t seen since the Great Depression. Now I realize fundraisers must be planned well in advance of the event, but not two years. You see John McCain called for an investigation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac while Obama was in the Senate because McCain saw the crisis on the horizion but no one in the House or Senate paid any attention to the warnings. This financial crisis has been developing for years and perhaps it was unfortunate that Obama’s timing was so bad, but it was not because he was not forewarned. DS
