Sen. Hillary Clinton was allowed to give her swan song speech of this presidential year election at Obama’s Democratic Convention. It was probably her best speech ever, all about her with token references to husband Bill and only 10 mentions supporting the candidacy of Barack Obama.

It was a  me speech, almost sounding as though she was the candidate and certainly overshadowing the Obama pick for VP, Joseph Biden.

She accomplished what she set out to do in this speech.

The best she could do was to say that she was here tonight as:

“A proud mother

“A proud Democrat

“A proud senator from New York

“A proud American

“An a proud supporter of Obama.”

Hillary as was expected,  did no favors in her speech to support Barack Obama.  There were no personal references to Obama’s capabilites nor his expericnce to be Commander in Chief.

She tried to say that the Democrats were a single party with single purpose saying “that we are all on the same team.”

It was pap at its best.  She took very few shots at John McCain while appearing in an ulgy orange pant suit trying to appeal to her sisterhood of traveling pants’ suits.

It was a speech designed to set her up for her campaign of 2012. And, in the balcony there was Bill cheering her on enthusiastically as though they were both heading back to the White House.
