A Lion stepped up to the plate tonight — much like Babe Ruth — at the Democratic Convention and hit an emotional home run while dealing with a death struggle of brain cancer.
Ted Kennedy, ignoring doctor’s orders, appeared on the Convention floor before tumultuous applause to speak in behalf of Barack Obama for President, passing the baton from the Kennedy’s to the Obama’s.
To quote Fox News, it is time to be fair and balanced. There is no question about the contributions Ted Kennedy has made to the United States and the service he and his family has made in behalf of all Americans.
I never agreed with Kennedy politics, but Ted Kennedy, despite his elitist left wing views, is one of us — an American, has served his country well, as his brothers have and he has promised to be back in the Senate to fight for universal heath care for all.
Political conventions are nothing but dog and pony shows and I really don’t know if they have a place in modern day politics with the instantaneous response that takes place on the internet.
For example the immediate response of attack ads responding to attack ads. It appears that the response is so rapid that the ads are in the can by both sides with rapid anticipation of what is to come.
Despite Michelle Obama’s attempt to portray her husband as a basic good person ready to give the country ‘change’, no one this evening dispelled the sign Obama put over his own head that he is not ready for being president because of a lack of experience, when he named Sen. Joseph Biden his running mate, who said himself that Obama was not ready to lead, albeit before he was selected as veep.
But this is all part of what politics is about — no one really means what they said in the past if forgiveness moves them forward in the future. Hypocrisy!
