A few columns ago we did a piece on Barack Obama entitled ‘Obama’s Trip To Iraq As Phony As The Podium He Stands Behind.’  The podium read ‘Judgment To Lead.’

I recently received an e-mail forwarded by a relative of a Captain serving in Afghanistan who was an eye witness to Obama’s visit to Bagram.  It is a letter that you will not find in the mainstream media:

“Hello everyone.

“As you know I am not a very political person. 

“I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’.  I wanted to share with you what happened.

“He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

“As the soldiers were lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. 

“As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball.

“He again shunned the opportunity to talk to soldiers to thank them for their service.

“So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President.

“I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

“I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheer Leaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States.  I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief.  It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

“If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is.  What you see in the news is all fake.”

The letter was signed; I withheld the Captain’s  name in order to protect this patriot from any repercussions for telling it as he saw it.

The information in this eyewitness report is supported by other news filings, albeit miniscule, about Obama’s behavior and judgment.

As we reported in an earlier column NBC’s Andrea Mitchell said Obama held “fake interviews.”

Somewhat surprising for NBC news who covered Obama’s overseas trip, they allowed Mitchell to say the following on air: “Let me say something about the message management.  He didn’t have reporters with him, he didn’t have a press pool, he didn’t do a press conference,” either in Afghanistan or Iraq.”  Instead Obama manufactured “what some would call ‘fake interviews,’ because they are not interviews from a journalist,” Mitchell said.

Of course very little was reported by the mainstream media on the ‘contrived image management’ of the Obama campaaign.  Mitchell said Obama’s tactics might be politically smart, but she seemed to be bothered that nobody else in the media was exposing it.  She went on to say that it seemed the media is going along with it because they want it to succeed.

I would like to make note here that the news media across this country widely reported Obama’s basketball shot from Downtown that swished through the net in that ClamShell in Bagram Aghanistan  — but they failed to report as the Captain did, Obama blowing off the troops that protect his very own freedom.

And if all of this is not enough, the Associated Press is reporting from Berlin that Obama scrapped plans to visit wounded members of the armed forces in Germany as part of his overseas trip, a decision his spokesman said was made because the Democratic presidential candidate thought it would be inappropriate on a campaign-funded journey.

How is this for a lame excuse?  Robert Gibbs, an Obama spokesman said that he made the decision out of ‘respect’ for the servicemen and women.  However, in my mind it was out of a ‘lack of respect.’

McCain’s presidential campaign said, Barack Obama is wrong.  It is never inappropriate to visit our men and women in the military.”

Obama had been planning to go to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany before a flight to Paris.

And so from not knowing who to associate with and who he should or should not blow off and not knowing what policies are right and what are wrong, denying that the surge is working in Iraq, Obama continues to blow with the prevailing wind like a windsock and demonstrates that he is a flawed character with poor judgment.

The Captain saw him for a brief moment, but he was right on in his judgment, “I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief.”
