There’s a lot of silliness going on over the use of words by the two candidates for the Democratic nomination for President while neither seem to be addressing the issues facing this nation with any degree of substance.

The most recent war of words occurred by the two kids playing in the sand box, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Speaking at a private fund raiser in San Francisco, Obama was trying to explain his troubles winning over some working-class voters, because they have become frustrated over economic conditions and he said, “It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Clinton called the comments “elitist and out of touch.”

Later Obama said, “If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that.”

Meanwhile Clinton was hoping charges that Obama is elitist and arrogant will resonate with the swing voters the candidates are vying for.

Then there is Bill Clinton standing by his wife, or as some in political circles think, ‘trying to undermine her,’ raising again Hillary’s bogus ‘sniper fire’ story in Bosnia mistakenly confusing her facts by confusing his facts about what she misspoke about.

Bill defended her by saying Hillary only told the story once — but she told it twice — and blamed it on the late hour, 11 PM, and said she immediately admitted her mistake.

It all got so bad that at one point this week Hillary told Bill to shut-up.

Today on CBS’ ‘Face the Nation,’ Bob Schieffer, asked Democratic House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi why Clinton would bring up this issue again. Pelosi tried to side step the question, but finally said, “Perhaps he was also having a late night or an adult moment.”

The frivolousness of this flack by the Democrats is in stark contrast to the real issues such as the sub-prime rate, the economy, global warming and of course the Iraqi war.

Nevertheless neither Obama nor Clinton addresses these issues with any substance or specific plan. The Iraq war is a classic example. They both want to bring home our troops, but neither one have a plan for the Middle East that wouldn’t put the region in a state of chaos and perhaps lead us into World War III.
