Florida gets more than its share of lighting hits annually and doesn’t really need anymore, but the Democratic Party seems to select this state for unwarranted election year lighting bolts that seem to play a role in the selection of our next president.

Florida doesn’t ask to be the focal point, but when it is selected to be such, history shows it can step up to the plate.

Is history repeating itself?

Why should party rules overide the Constitution?

Why are we the people not selecting who should be President and Vice President of the United States?

Why is the democratic process being manipulated by party politics?

The Democrats created a problem in Florida and Michigan., by telling each state they could not hold their primaries before the first party sanctioned date in February, and if they did there would be penalties.

Florida and Michigan defied these party rules and little did the Democrats realize in penalizing these states by not recognizing the delegates nor allowing them to attend the convention, that they would not have selected a Presidential nominee at this point in time, and as a result, Florida and Michigan could be the states that selects the Democratic nominee . . . or perhaps implodes the party.

So the Democrats have a dilemma facing them that they did not anticipate.

The solution is not simple.

Primaries were held in both states.  Obama wasn’t on the ballot in Michigan, Clinton was.  Neither campaigned in either state.

The only solution is to hold second primaries in both states.  But who’s going to pay for the primaries – certainly not I as a resident of Florida.

If the primaries already held in both states are upheld, the popular vote between Clinton and Obama would be a difference of 3,000 votes in favor of Obama.

I for one believe that the Democrats created the problem; therefore it is theirs’ to resolve and pay for should there be a need for a second primary in Florida.

However, I do have one constructive suggestion: Katherine Harris, former Secretary of State in the year 2,000, and a two term Republican Congresswoman is still living in this state and I believe that she could solve this crisis, for she knows how to deal with hanging and pregnant chads.
