Well, the answer to the question, who’s going to answer the White House Phone at 3 AM, is the same today as it was before Super Tuesday — the operator.
Despite the fact that Hillary Clinton has slowed Barack Obama’s momentum, winning Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island and losing only Vermont, she still faces an almost impossible numbers game in the search for delegates.
The Republicans are pleased with the outcome between Clinton and Obama and the Democrats are looking for an end to the contentious race — hopefully before their convention.
Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist told the Associated Press, “Despite Obama’s impressive victories in February, Clinton’s comeback is based on sowing political seeds of doubt. In order to clinch the nomination, he must anticipate the worst attacks ever.”
Meanwhile a senior Obama adviser said the team will respond to Tuesday’s results by going negative on Clinton — razing questions about her tax records and the source of donations the Clinton presidential library, among skeletons in the Clintons’ past.
This all bodes well for John McCain and his staff who will be building the Clinton and Obama files to unleash on either winner, and if they become a team — because politics does make for strange bed fellows — all the more dirt to throw around.
