During a CBS 60 Minutes interview Hillary Clinton admitted this evening to being known as “Miss Frigidaire” in high school.
However she quickly qualified the admission with an unfortunate chipmunk smirk, by saying, “only by some boys . . . and you wouldn’t want to know those boys.”
60 Minutes did an interview with both leading candidates for the Democratic nomination for President, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Obama noted in his interview, which was done by CBS independently of each other, that 47 percent of the country is “not against me” as they are with Clinton.
It is true that Hillary is a polarizing candidate by all the national polls.
In response to the polarizing question she sticks to the party line that she is the most experienced and on day one she will be ready to govern the country, casting aspersions on Obama’s experience.
You might be interested to know that during the interview, some little know minutia was revealed about Hillary: she drinks tea, not coffee; stopped drinking diet drinks; drinks tons of water; washes her hands regularly and uses Purel.
On the question of whether she likes Obama or not she said she thought he was a wonderful person.
She campaigned for him when he ran for the Senate. She said his picture was still in her office today. She told him, “to work hard and keep a low profile.”
He failed to accept her advice, much to her discontent, on the latter.
Although Hillary voted for the Iraq war, she now wants out. Disagrees with McCain’s comment of staying for 100 years. This she said,”would enrage me.”
In the Obama interview on 60 Minutes, he characterized Washington as being comfortable with itself and the “Clintons are happy with the status quo.”
And in contrast he says he is working on ”change.”
With respect to the war in Iraq, he admits that the surge in Iraq has resulted in a reduction in violence, but is not willing to commit to long term occupation.
“Now is precisely the time to get out,” however; he said “I always reserve the right to assess the situation.”
He said he was the best candidate to defeat McCain.
He pointed out that polls show she (Clinton) has problems with independents and moderate Republicans.
Obama said that he will always strike a contrast between himself and Clinton based upon facts. And, he admitted that she and he will always be “friends.”
He said he’s a guy that exercises every day, but during the New Hampshire primaries, which he lost, he didn’t play basketball — he has not stopped playing basketball on the day of every primary ever since. A bit of superstition in the Obama camp?
